About the Role

The Manager, Trust Services will be responsible for the management and development of a team of Senior and Junior Officers to deliver comprehensive first-class administrative service to core clients.  Alongside taking responsibility for a mixed portfolio of complex trusts, companies and partnerships, the Trust Manager will ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies, and will be expected to contribute towards the development and implementation of strategic plans for the business, acting as a senior relationship manager with clients.  The successful candidate will be confident in their communication with key intermediaries such as beneficiaries, co-trustees, accountants, lawyers, and investment managers, and will be able to work cross-functionally as a key member of the Risk Committee. This role will also have the opportunity to: 
  • Ensure that employees understand Suntera Global’s vision, as well as support and reinforce targeted behaviours that contribute to Suntera Global’s goals in the region. Working to identify on-the-job and specific training needs
  • Provide leadership and actively coach/mentor those around you to ensure understanding and buy in to the direction and strategies of the overall Suntera Global’s business plan
  • Provide focus and clarity in establishing individual goals, driving performance management, supporting career development, and rewarding strong performance
  • Demonstrate personal commitment to ensure skills/knowledge are up to date and to continually improve capability by keeping abreast of fiduciary industry developments

Client Experience 

  • Facilitate a proactive relationship management approach with clients to ensure service levels are appropriate and long-term client relationships are sustained and all client affairs are serviced and administered in accordance with terms of governing documents, laws, regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Perform Strategic Client Reviews and develop appropriate strategies customized to the client’s unique situation while establishing and maintaining long-term profitable relationships and broadening the offering to the client
  • Demonstrate a superior knowledge of trust fiduciary structures, a working knowledge of investments solutions and ability to communicate and articulate issues and solutions to the client
  • Work with the Client Accounting, Compliance and Operation Risk teams to ensure that the office maintains a high standard of financial statement and bookkeeping, timely completion of client periodic reviews and tasks arising as a result of the review process, and all risk, compliance and other internal control processes are attended to in an efficient and timely manner with support of Risk Management
  • Manage and control the team regarding administrative duties and maintenance of the database and other internal systems
  • Effectively facilitate and manage the trust client take-on process to improve the company’s new business acceptance rate
  • To always respond promptly to clients’ requests with the highest standard and confidentiality
  • Ensure that client complaints are handled in a timely manner in accordance with Suntera Global policy
  • To participate in endeavours to market Suntera (Cayman) Limited via contacts locally and through the network system
  • To seek opportunities to sell/market as required or as determined by the Board of Directors or Senior Management team
  • Maintain and uphold all policy and procedural guidelines, adhering to internal controls and work with the Director Private Wealth, Managing Director, and Senior Management team to fulfil audit requirements
  • In conjunction with the Risk Management and Compliance Team comply with internal controls and systems to ensure annual reviews, investment review, non-compliant cases, audit points, time spent records, fee accrual and collection are all dealt with promptly
Accelerating Business Results 
  • Maintains and grows revenue through building and broadening of relationships with existing clients and Suntera Global and obtaining new clients through existing client referrals
  • Initiates and participates in activities to promote the ability of Suntera Global, in conjunction with other specialists, wherever necessary, to provide advice on all aspects of trust and other structured fiduciary solutions and services
  • To keep current on all new planning opportunities and structures in The Cayman Islands and Caribbean that may be relevant to or enhance existing and potential client opportunities to increase client base and improve revenue generation
  • Review profitability of each administered trust, company and other fiduciary structure and act where appropriate considering the degree of risk and complexity associated with the structure and the value given to the client
Risk and compliance   
  • Exercises due diligence and minimizes risk relative to all aspects of the business including portfolio quality, account opening, anti-money laundering, anti-terrorism, suspicious activity, financial sanctions, and fraud as outlined in Suntera Global’s instructions and guidelines
  • Ensures that all requirements are met in accordance with internal policies in relation to Know Your Client understanding and supporting documentation
  • Implement and monitor all necessary control procedures to ensure the effective administration with required internal and applicable external standards 
  • Responsible for implementing recommendations arising from internal and external audits to the extent that they impact client service or administration issues
  • Be familiar with the business affairs and activities of the Cayman Islands business and be able to respond expeditiously to compliance with respect to Cayman Islands Monetary Authority’s inquiries about all aspects of the licensee’s operations. Maintain awareness of opportunities to determine areas of operational risk or potential losses
  • Recommend and implemented action plans to address and/or correct
  • Escalates any concerns as appropriate to the Managing Director, Director, Compliance Manager & MLRO and/or Management Team

About You

You will be an experienced individual with a strong knowledge of the Trust structures offered in Cayman and Company structures and related statutory requirements of local legislation. The following attributes would also be advantageous:
  • A minimum of 8-10 years relevant and demonstrable experience in a trust environment, including management of a team and change management experience
  • Possession of a relevant professional qualification (i.e., TEP, CPA) will be essential
  • Demonstrated track record of success in building a market competitive and profitable office platform, and depth of experience and understanding of core trust services and operations needed to establish 
    the practice and lead its growth and profitability
  • Sound Knowledge of Trust, Company, and Fiduciary Structures
  • Sound knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements
  • Track record of delivering high quality results along with ability to organize and manage multiple priorities
  • The qualified candidate must be self-motivated and possess very strong interpersonal and presentation skills, and excellent written and verbal communication skills, as this position deals directly with key clients, prospective clients, other key intermediaries
  • Language capability e.g., Spanish, French, Portuguese is an advantage
