Job Description

About The Role.

As a member of the Isle of Man Compliance team, your role will involve supporting the Head of Compliance to deliver Financial Crime Compliance duties. You will deliver excellent performance with the discipline required to meet changing regulatory requirements. 

Your duties will include:

  • Act as designated MLRO in line with the Financial Crime Regulations.
  • Review and investigate internal SARs and obtain legal advice as necessary.
  • Act as the liaison point with the Finance Intelligence Unit ("FIU") as required, and lead on responding to law enforcement production orders.
  • Advise the Head of Compliance of any financial crime compliance related matters that need to be notified to the IOM Financial Services Authority ("IOMFSA”) in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure accurate and prompt checking of relevant databases following receipt of appropriate notices from regulatory authorities, law enforcement agencies or other appropriate bodies.
  • Maintain Internal, External, Enquiries, and PEP Registers.
  • Responsible for the ongoing review of high-risk AML/CFT matters.
  • Provide advice to the business administration teams in the ongoing and effective management of client relationships. 
  • Participate in local committees as required, e.g. the Client Acceptance Committee.
  • Review payments or other activities requiring Compliance/MLRO sign off.
  • Lead or participate in the delivery of AML/CFT training to new and existing employees.
  • Report directly to the Board as required and escalate any relevant issues.
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation and delivery of Statistical Return Forms/MI data to IOM FSA and Group.
  • Appropriately manage and review the performance of DMLRO.
  • Maintain full awareness of personal and business obligations under relevant AML/CFT legislation and emerging best practice guidance issued by the IOMFSA and FIU.

As a member of the Compliance team, you will assist in developing and maintaining a good compliance culture throughout the Isle of Man office and ensure compliance with laws, regulations, reporting requirements and controls imposed by regulators and the Board of Directors. You will also have the opportunity to:

  • Assist the Head of Compliance to develop, implement and embed an effective compliance framework.
  • Undertake monitoring in accordance with financial crime compliance monitoring program.
  • Review and update MLRO, and AML/CFT Procedures and documents as required from time to time.
  • Assist with external audits and the preparation of Due Diligence audits.
  • Providing advice to the Isle of Man Compliance team in relation AML / CFT regulatory requirements, including policies and procedures.

About you.

You will be a strategic thinker and effective problem solver with the ability to initiate and manage change. The following attributes would also be advantageous: 

  • Previous Key Person, or MLRO/DMLRO experience.
  • Degree and/or relevant professional qualification (such as an ICA Certificate or Diploma), with relevant experience at a senior compliance level in the trust and company sector.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with people at all levels.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure and to guide and direct others to meet deadlines and targets.
  • Excellent knowledge of relevant Isle of Man regulations and legislation, including anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing.
  • The ability to work both independently and under supervision.
