The Commonwealth of the Bahamas is an island nation situated between Florida and Cuba. With nearly 700 islands, only a few dozen are inhabited. 

The capital, Nassau, is located on New Providence Island and is home to most the country's approximately 400,000 residents. The official currency is the Bahamian Dollar, although the US Dollar is widely accepted, and English is the official language.

As you can imagine, Bahamians mostly live a tropical lifestyle, much aided by warm weather and crystal-clear waters. Beaches and surfing are a big thing here, as are casinos and aqua parks. The national sport is cricket, but locals also engage in golf, track and field, and sailing.
