Our commitment to our communities

Our Jersey office is one of the giant sculpture sponsors for Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust's Tortoise Takeover.

This island-wide, public art trail will bring together every part of Jersey's community and in turn, protect some of the most threatened species on the planet.

All funds raised will go towards creating an environmentally friendly, modern and sustainable Tropical House at Jersey Zoo, to house the many species of threatened reptiles and amphibians cared for by Durrell in an optimal environment.

"We are delighted to be supporting this initiative which is perfectly aligned with our Group-wide focus on caring for our natural environment and championing environmental protection and conservation. The trail will undoubtedly offer an exciting and engaging opportunity for the Jersey community and those visiting the island to learn more about the vital conservation work undertaken by Durrell."

Meet our artist: Erin Brown

Erin is a Northern Irish illustrator who lives and works on the beautiful island of Jersey.

After graduating university with a Bachelor's degree in Fine Art, a passion for stories and children’s books took hold and she completed a diploma in Illustrating Children’s Books with the London Art College.

She combines her love for hand drawn lines and traditional techniques with the flexibility and freedom of adding colour digitally. She has worked with clients such as Oxford University Press, Egmont Publishing and Stripes Publishing.

Her love of stories comes from her Grandad who lived by the sea and was always ready with a tale or two - and a biscuit.

When she is not working in her tiny studio, she can be found baking something overly sweet, exploring the forests and cliff paths of Jersey, or down at the sea shore watching the tide roll in.

Erin is the visionary artist who brought our tortoise, Home, for even the smallest, to life. View photos of our tortoise below!

Visit our tortoise at Waterworks Valley!

Our giant tortoise sculpture, Home, for even the smallest, can be found at Le Don Sinkins, Waterworks Valley, a wooded area in the parish of St. Lawrence. The valley is often referred to as Waterworks Valley after the many mills that were once powered by the stream flowing through it. There are cycling and walking trails that go past the sculpture, and a picnic spot nearby. The sculpture is located in dappled shade under the canopy of trees, making it a perfect spot to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet of the valley.

Be sure to say "shell-o" to our tortoise and enter our competition as you could be in with a chance to win an ex-shell-ent prize! For more details, scroll down.

WIN a ‘tor-tally’ fantastic three night stay at Durrell Wildlife Camp!

When you find Home, for even the smallest…, you can enter our competition to win a three night stay in one of the glamping pods at Durrell Wildlife Camp!

With this unique experience, you will get to stay in one of the luxurious glamping pods in the heart of Jersey Zoo with some of the world’s rarest animals right on your doorstep! Listen to the sounds of the animals as the park comes to life in the morning and enjoy free entry to the zoo throughout the day.

We selected this reward because it not only gives back to Durrell, but it gets you closer to the action and encourages the wider education and engagement with the work that the zoo does, which is essential for the preservation of the species that they care for. Many species worldwide – including their tortoises – are in danger due to a range of human and environmental hazards in their natural habitats, so we must raise awareness and get involved in any way we can.
