Selection, Acquisition and Registration

Good planning is critical when it comes to purchasing mobile assets.

We help by providing the following services ahead of and during the purchase:

  • Arranging meetings with aircraft brokers with the aim of identifying the aircraft that best suits your travel requirements and budget.
  • Advising on the most appropriate structure for holding the aircraft, taking into consideration relevant taxes, notably VAT.
  • Making introductions to providers of aviation finance if required.
  • Incorporating a special purpose limited liability vehicle to acquire the aircraft and appointing a luxury asset lawyer to protect your interests throughout the acquisition process, including negotiation of the Aircraft Purchase Agreement (APA).
  • Assisting with the selection of the aircraft manager/operator.
  • Working with your advisers and the aircraft manager/operator to ensure registration of the asset in the most appropriate jurisdiction.
  • Arranging insurance for the aircraft.
  • Assisting with the opening of a bank account for the asset ownership company. We have strong existing relationships with many reputable international banks, which can provide debit or credit cards if required by the flight crew.
Ongoing business use

We make owning mobile assets for ongoing business use as straightforward as possible.

We can help by:

  • Supporting you and the aircraft manager/operator as required, including dealing with insurance renewals and claims and review and negotiation of engine, APU and air frame maintenance contracts.
  • Liaising with the aircraft registry and aircraft manager/operator to ensure licences are validated, documents are submitted to the registry and registry fees are paid on time.
  • Issuing the VAT compliant aircraft lease and/or charter invoices based on hours of usage or other agreed formulae. We also ensure accurate VAT returns are submitted on time and that any queries raised by customs authorities are dealt with in a timely manner.
  • Providing ongoing accounting, VAT and tax compliance services including financial management and reporting as required.

Our dedicated team can also support the sale of an aircraft and liquidation of the owning company.

We can help with the disposal process by:

  • Arranging meetings with aircraft brokers with the aim of securing the best value for you from the aircraft disposal in a time frame that meets with your expectations.
  • Assisting you with the appointment of a luxury asset lawyer to protect your interests throughout the disposal process, including the negotiation of the APA.
  • Arranging the provision of a dedicated escrow service to be used by buyer and seller.
  • Dealing with the de-registration of the aircraft at the aircraft registry.
  • Dealing with VAT de-registration formalities and dissolution or liquidation of the ownership company, as appropriate.
