We were proud to support the 16th Mike Henthorn Cruse Memorial Golf Day, held recently at Peel Golf Club in aid of Cruse Bereavement Support Isle of Man. The annual event brought together 18 teams for a day of friendly competition, raising vital funds for the Island’s bereavement charity.
The golf day is held in memory of Mike Henthorn, a much-loved figure in the community and former Vice-Chair of Cruse. The event continues to be organised by Mike’s close friend and former Chair, Sam Skelton, with support from Mike’s son Mark Henthorn, Head of Operations at Cruse.
As part of our sponsorship, we also made an additional £3,000 donation ahead of the event, presented during a visit to our Isle of Man office. The cheque handover featured Mark Henthorn and Chief Executive, Mary Doyle, alongside Mark Reynolds, Managing Director of Suntera Isle of Man and Regional Head of Crown Dependencies.
Mary expressed her gratitude to Suntera, the Henthorn family and all participants, adding thanks to Rich Evans, Peel Golf Club’s Golf Pro, and Robin and Janna from the catering team. This year’s event raised an impressive £8,300, which will directly support Cruse’s work with individuals and families experiencing bereavement.
Competition on the day was strong, with LMS Partners taking first place, presented with the trophy by Mike’s wife Janet Henthorn. Second place went to Canaccord, with the Suntera Global Team 2 securing third.
Teams from across the Island took part, including representatives from Tevir Group, MAC Group, Intact, and several community teams, alongside Cruse’s own team. During the event, Claire Brew, Cruse’s Children and Young People’s Bereavement Specialist, shared insights into the impact of Cruse’s services on local families.
Reflecting on the day, Mark Reynolds, said:
“It was a fantastic event, well attended and supporting an excellent local charity. We are pleased to commit our support again for next year and thank everyone involved for helping raise valuable funds for a service that makes such a meaningful difference to those experiencing bereavement.”
