About the Role

As an Associate Director of the Private Wealth and Corporate Division in the Cayman Islands, you will be an integral part of the senior management team responsible for developing, growing and the operational excellence for our Private Wealth and Corporate Division in Cayman. With a core focus on a target client base including Trust and Corporate structures, you will also be responsible for managing the administration team and ensuring the control framework, policies and procedures and risk management environment are in place to run a legal and regulatory compliant business, working closely with the Head of Private Wealth, Compliance team and at times, the Managing Director to instil a top-down compliance-led culture.The role will also include identifying business development opportunities alongside the Head of Private Wealth and assisting with all aspects of the new business process.It is intended that as you progress through your career with Suntera, you will become an authorised signatory for Suntera and may become a director of the Suntera business. Appropriate training and guidance will be provided to help you achieve this progression. 

  • Take ownership of the Cayman Private Wealth and Corporate division administration team management (alongside the management team), work alongside the Head of Private Wealth to develop a best-in-class approach to deliver exceptional client service and operational excellence
  • Maintain a pro-active and positive working environment, contributing to pulling the team towards shared goals and targets
  • Create strong relationships with other business lines, peers, and colleagues to ensure effective visibility and increased workability to deliver the wider jurisdiction and divisional business plan alongside the Head of Private Wealth
  • Lead larger client relationships, ensuring their needs are fulfilled by the team with strong governance considerations and timely execution of activities at the forefront of the teams mind
  • Manage with the team all risks related to Trust and Corporate work and ensure the Trustee’s Corporate Service Providers’ fiduciary responsibilities are followed
  • Foster a culture of compliance-led operational excellence to ensure the business operates and grows in a well-structured manner, which may include assisting the Head of Private Wealth with engaging with divisional counterparties to develop a cross-jurisdiction best in class operating model
  • Support and help with any change management processes to be implemented on the team
  • Continue to build a dedicated team with the required skill sets; and identify any training gaps and address them in a timely manner
  • Work with the Head of Private Wealth to input into planning new business initiatives in conjunction with the wider Group’s Private Wealth and Corporate Division strategy
  • Assist with preparation of quarterly board reports
  • Assist with writing articles for publications

About You

You will be an experienced individual with a strong knowledge of the Trust structures offered in Cayman and Company structures and related statutory requirements of local legislation. The following attributes would also be advantageous:

  • A minimum of 10-15 years’ experience in the Private Wealth industry
  • A relevant professional qualification, such as STEP/ICSA Diploma (now CGI), ACCA or an applicable Legal or Accountancy degree, and/or master’s degree
  • Established relationships across the Private Wealth industry and a high market profile in the Private Wealth community including law firms, accountants, advisers etc.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues at all levels
  • Must have excellent Leadership and Management skills
  • A solution-driven attitude to problems
  • The ability to work using your own initiative and make decisions within corporate policies
  • A strong understanding of anti-money laundering policies and guidelines
  • Excellent organisation and communication skills, both in verbal and written form. Strong relationship management skills and the ability to have difficult conversations. The person should inspire trust and confidence
